Taneycomo fishing report

Taneycomo stream report – Thursday 19, July 2012

The heat wave continues to press down on the area with no respite in view. Generation remains pretty much the same with good wading available until lunch time.

I have attempted to figure out the solution to the midge pattern and thought I had it cracked with a black bodied, CDC parachute midge adult in #20. The first three casts produced a nice fish each and then nothing! So it’s back to the drawing board although I have not given up and seem to be getting close to solving it. The fish seem focuses on the midge adults which are probably close to #26 or even #28.

With this hot weather there are plenty of grasshoppers around so I found that generic hopper patterns were taking nice fish along the edges in the shallow water.

Adding a midge dropper to your hopper would be a great idea and best idea might be a black and white rainbow midge in #20.
